What does Maueyes mean?
The name Maueyes reflects the idea of seeing the world from a cat’s-eye view. “Mau” comes from the Ancient Egyptian word for cat and “eyes” represents seeing the world from a cat’s perspective.
“Mau” comes from the Ancient Egyptian word mỉw, meaning cat. Over time, the word mỉw evolved into mau, as reflected in the name of the Egyptian Mau cat breed. The word is thought to reflect the sound of a cat’s meow vocalization. “Eyes” represents our perspective of seeing the world through a cat’s point of view.
Dr. Kristyn Vitale founded Maueyes Cat Science and Education in 2014 as a resource on cat behavior, cat science, and cat training.
